This was our 3rd RV. Our 2nd was a Coachman 15' Travel Trailer & --->Continued
the 1st was a Fleetwood 24' Tioga Montara Class C Motorhome from Barryland Campers in Ponchatoula, LA.
The Travel Trailer was sold after getting into a bind in a Conservation Area. The very reasons I wanted a truck camper in the first place.
Getting back to the 3rd RV... Truck Camper shown in the picture is a 1996 Shadow Cruiser 950 ? I question it as I have no real info other than searching online. The company has changed hands several times over the years. However, It was a 9 1/2' Long Bed Camper.
This was a Craigslist deal & after looking at it I gave the guy $1100. He had gotten it from a gentleman who had lost his wife & let the camper set. He had to rebuild the roof as there was water damage. He used wood framing & metal sheets for the roof. I suppose that's why when I had the truck & camper scaled it put the Shadow Cruiser at 3,000lbs.
It still leaked a bit but I just kept putting on rv tape & caulking regularly to slow it's roll. I installed x3 150 watt panels from a company called Hightec Solar & x2 FLA Group 24 Batteries. They make their panels right here in the USA! I will go on to buy more panels from this company for our Latest Lance Camper too.
We had this set-up for 6 years until I traded the camper when purchasing our 4th RV. A 1994 Lance 990
The old 1995 Ford F-250 did a great job & I never needed any airbags just some HD Monroe Gas Magnums. As you can see from the (Top Photo) I used this set-up anyway I needed. We even drove the old F-250, pictured above, for 4 years as our ONLY vehicle. Why is that a big deal? With the age & mileage, at the time of purchase, it was a pretty big gamble at the time to rely on for our only daily.
